Wi-Fi in all trains in 3-4 years Railways is looking to provide Wi-Fi on all passenger trains over the next three-four years and will seek more public-private partnerships, including in running of trains, as it seeks to improve passenger services and safety, without privatising the railways, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said recently. “Wi-Fi has now reached over 5,200 railway stations in India... The target is to reach 6,500 stations. The last 1,000 stations will take a little longer due to technical challenges as the optic fiber cable has not reached there, or the ecosystem is missing. That should take sixeight months. We will start working on Wi-Fi in trains after that... Going forward, all passenger trains will have Wi-Fi,” the minister said.
